ABOUT

Based in Kansas City, Missouri, Aislinn Walters-Jakary is widely recognized throughout the United States as an emerging performer and teacher of saxophone.

 

Her experience teaching, conducting, and adjudicating ranges from elementary school to the collegiate level. For five years Mrs. Walters-Jakary has served on the faculty for the High Plains Music Camp in Hays, Kansas and recently served was the Ensemble Manager for the Greater Hartford Youth Wind Ensemble in West Hartford, Connecticut.

 

As a performer, Ms. Walters-Jakary is equally versed in the worlds of classical and jazz music. While a member of the Jazz Ensemble at Fort Hays State University she performed on multiple occasions at the Kansas Music Educators Association State Convention. She is an active member of the North American Saxophone Alliance and has attended and performed in multiple conferences and clinics across the country, including the 2021 Regional Conference, in which she presented three world premieres for saxophone quartet. In 2020, Ms. Walters-Jakary performed at the International Saxophone Symposium in Fairfax, Virginia as the alto saxophone soloist in the Penumbral Quartet. As a soloist, she was named the 2020 winner of the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist competition for the state of Connecticut.

 

In addition to her experience as a solo and chamber musician, she was awarded the honor to march as part of the United States Army All-American Marching Band in 2014 at the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. As she continues to maintain an active career in her community, her newly formed saxophone duo, Event Horizon, is working to expand the repertoire and increase visibility of the underrated saxophone duo.

 

Ms. Walters-Jakary has studied with some of the nation’s finest saxophonists including Carrie Koffman, Timothy McAllister, Otis Murphy, Chien-Kwan Lin, Kenneth Tse, Stephen Page, Zachary Shemon, Robert Young and Steven Banks. She holds a master's degree in Saxophone Performance from The Hartt School of Music and dual bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Saxophone Performance from Fort Hays State University. She is currently pursuing an Artist's Certification at the University of Kansas City - Missouri.
